Poem I have a complex relationship with currency I love it, trust me I do But in the context of daily autonomy Please, what the stuff does it prove? I live somewhat basically currently An oven dish the bulk of my food Convention right now's most forthcoming And most of my bucks spent on shoes Since I untucked my shirt and won't fold for career life I’ll search for the cloth that I'm cut from Became more alert was no deer in the headlights I needed to learn from more customs I’ve been country to country seeking better rates of exchange With this funny feeling in my tummy slyly praying we could 'X' change Money doesn't equal happiness that formula’s been explained It multiplies the evil, we're less divided if the ‘x’ changed See we don't need to be in gangs for the signs to divide us It's the banks, shark tanks and a mind that's misguided Cash as a reason to give thanks is a design hardwired I've seen people break their ranks for a couple dimes wired From the regals to the squires, the peasants to the pious The thread that runs the deepest no materials can buy us We'll all be six feet under grass Where no millions can pass Whether city living large Or village singing kumbaya So before our ship departs Question if you've filled your heart I've endeavoured in their arc But find my dividends in art Am I ambivalent I ask? To the dosh and all it brings? It's still a battle and a task Not to dominate my being Cos the promise of sight seeing, taking flights and meeting cultures Will forever be appealing Make my life a heap more wholesome Go to Giza, Hanging Gardens meeting worlds that I don't know So I need to play my cards right can’t stay frozen in this globe The most unnatural disaster is a whirlwind and a hoax That's the need for keeping up appearances it sells them down the road People well meaning start mutating into demons and to vultures When the mula starts to rule us that's a quicker feast for crows It keeps me thinking on my toes To break some bread I need the dough But can't buy chains to fill a hole To pay my rent and keep a home I need a greater paying role It's a series to which I'll not ever subscribe I'll not kneel to their whims I'm the pilot, I'll drive This cash machine's got me withdrawing and tired I'd much rather be more informed and just vibe To plant seeds of knowledge do I cut down the money trees? The days we can graze them are few I have a complex relationship with currency I love it Trust me I do

Conversing like I'm good, a laugh might break, nobody's seeing through So let's address the question "how are you?" Who, in a sane frame of mind would reply "out of 10 I'm 2" And therein lies the issue First of all we're inclined and conditioned to resign ourself to zip it with smile and a wink declining chances of admission Everything we omit might be witnessed in a glimpse but we still follow the script because Who really cares? Secondly am I sane as I refrain to overshare? Often we trained are to frame it how society expects What if sanity's exhaling all the the things laid on your chest And that peace is gained embracing we're not 100% Then again I think the other person wants us not to become burdensome I sink a little further into my internal furnace Because I couldn't be certain that my outburst wouldn't hurt them So curtail the whole emotion into "I'm doing just perfect" Although it isn't and we know that But it doesn't fit the whole chat So next time I see a sigh behind flicker in their eyes I think I'll try, really try to go back and ask again How are you? As for me? How am I? I'll pretend and say I'm fine But really though I'm fine
